Marma Chikitsa in Ayurveda

Introduction:

Marma The word literally means life full point conditions, which is a combination of muscles, nerves, joints, bones, tendons, arteries and veins or in combination of two, three, etc, or above all structures,

The father of surgerySushruthacharya, Marma defined as "Marma Marayanthi Ithier" – which means that some anatomical sites vital in the body, in case of injury becomes painful and cause a malfunction of the local organs or even cause sudden death (marayanthi) of the individual.

The shares are controlled by the Marma pranic Vayu (the principle of cosmic energy in the human body). The Prana Vayu is essential to sustain life or the life of a person. Sushrutha Sushruthacharya Samhita in his treatise, in Chapter 6 sthdna Sharee said that "a person having the surgery, the amputation of a limb will survive, but a person injured at the base of the toe, can not, from the base of the finger is a Marma point. Post surgery, after the amputation, the channels of the body near the amputation site is closed, thus preventing energy loss pranic body. There are 108 Marma in the body. The Marma are classified on the basis of the anatomical structures involved or based in the action potential is in the body when injured. It is classified into the following five varieties based on the vulnerability of cases after the injury, namely

1) sadhya PRANAHARA Marma: When a marma in this category are injured due to spontaneous loss of prana vayu, death is imminent occur.

2) Kalanthes PRANAHARA Marma: The results of Marma Kalanthes (progressive) loss of life (pranahara), after a period of time.

3) VISHALYAGHNA: Shalya The word refers to a foreign body. When a foreign body penetrates these varieties of Marma, the injured person survives as long as the foreign body remains in place of the injury. But instead, he was eliminated, resulting in the death of this individual.

4) VAIKALYAKARA: These varieties Marma when subjected to damage caused deformation of these bodies which depend in particular, the Marma for energy distribution. The word means Vaikalya Vikalya or deformity.

5) Rojak Marma: These Marma or lead distortion or cause death, but results in unbearable pain (Roar) when wounded.

A summary of certain individual used Marma in the treatment of diseases

Marma Kshipra: Pronounced as "Xiprer. It is quite the number of 4 (two hands and two legs). In their hands they can be easily seen between the index finger and thumb, while the foot is between the big toe and the second toe. The width of the marma is said is 1 centimeter Sushrutha Acharya. In the analysis of existing structures in this Ksipra Marma are supposed to be a branch of the radial nerve in his hand.

Marma MANIBANDHA, that s two in number, which is 1 for each upper limb. Included in the category sandhi (mixed) Marma. It can be easily located on the underside of the wrist joint. In this 2-3 cm wide, Manibandha Marma, are carpal ligaments and between nerves.

Marma KATIKATHARUNA: asthi Sea (West) Marma, 1 inch wide, extending to both Katikataruna sides of the vertebral column size in the region lying next to the sacroiliac joint. The structures are discussed below the hip bone, artery iliac ligaments in the sacroiliac joint.

Marma SHRINGATAKA: Marma Shringataka in category of Dhamana (arterial) Marma Vagbhata by Acharya, whose width is about 4-6 inches.

Its location is assigned to a location above the surface of maxillary sinuses on each side of the nostrils. This Marma plays a vital role in Nasya Karma, to identify the Tridosha defective or disturbed areas the nose, ears, mouth and eyes. It indicates that the structures of the four above are powered by Marma Shringataka vital energy to maintain the physiology these structures.
