Im not sure because it is pain in the nerves not muscle. Maybe it can become inflammed because of the intense pain.

Helen asks…
My wife has Carpal tunnel in both wrist and is swollen and fingers are numb?
My wife won’t go to the doctor even though we have insurance. She’s very petite and won’t get treatment. I read the prognosis is not good without treatment. I told her to use ice and get a brace. She was even resistant to getting a brace until today when she called me at work to let me know she was experiencing swelling. What are effective home treatments until I can get her to see a physician. What type of physician should she see and what are the usual treatments? Are they generally effective? Thanks.

Lisa asks…
Has anyone heard of carpal Tunnel Syndrome causing your fingers to swell?
and be real painful

admin answers:
Yes CTS can swell fingers and wrist if hand overused of a day and depending on severity of CTS
i’ve just recently had release surgery on my right hand and my fingers and wrists would regularly swell before surgery. Try icepacking your hand for about 10mins raised up on an arm rest of a chair of an evening and this should help – you need to keep hand above heart to prevent swelling
hope this helps

-Sometimes my fingers get tingly.
…??
It’s all on the same hand.

admin answers:
I dont think there is a familial component to carpal Tunnel Syndrome, unless if there was a disease (like hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis etc)that runs in your family that would put you at risk of getting CTS
but trauma may cause CTS, and the tingling sensation is also a symptom of CTS, i would suggest you to see a doctor and get it checked

Betty asks…
I think I might have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Hi!
A part of my palm in between my thumb and pointer finger is slightly swollen and it feels sort of numb and tingly. My wrist feels a little weak, too, and my elbow is a little tingly. There’s no serious pain or burning anywhere, though.
Does it sound like carpal tunnel syndrome to you?

admin answers:
No. Carpal tunnel is severely painful.
