Your Questions About Cubital Tunnel Surgery

Paul asks…
Cubital Tunnel Surgery; is it an effective surgery?
I don’t want to have surgery if it doesn’t have a decent success rate.
No; I don’t mean Carpal Tunnel. I mean Cubital Tunnel. It affects the pinky & ring fingers.

admin answers:
Carpal Tunnel Surgery has a very high success rate.
I had mine done and it was worth all the inconvience, pain and cost.
Go and get it done. I can recommend it’s worth it.

Thomas asks…
I’m having Carpal and cubital tunnel surgery- Is intubation required for general aneshesia?

admin answers:
Yes, with general anesthesia you will be intubated.
For general anesthesia endotracheal intubation is required to provide a patent airway particularly when the patient is at risk for aspiration an for prolonged controlled ventilation. Intubation is usually performed with an instrument called laryngoscope and with an appropriate tube (endotracheal tube), which is placed just bellow the vocal cords.
Intubation is when a tube is placed down the throat, it does not involve cutting your throat or trachea…that’s a tracheostomy.

Sharon asks…
I just had cubital tunnel surgery 3 weeks ago, I still have numbness and the pain is unreal. Is this normal ?
I have cubital tunnel in both arms, my left was the worest. after this surgery on my left arm, and its not better I,m scared to have it on my right. I also have carbal tunnel. I’m taking 4 advil at a time, but it don’t help, I can’t sleep. Is there any thing I can do for the pain? Also the muscal in my hand is gone and it’s still numb, worse than before, does this mean I will never get it back? will I ever be able to work again?

admin answers:
If your having this much pain and swelling, after 3 weeks, you need to go back to the Surgeon,ASAP.. Something is not right.Meanwhile, keeping your wrist’s elevated with some ice packs will help with the pain and swelling, are you wearing your splints ?If not get them on and don’t strain that area by typing etc. Watch your salt intake, that will increase any problems with swelling.Take care. Robert asks…
Cubital Tunnel Surgery to Elbow?
I injured my wrist last sept ( hamate fracture) and was put in a cast for three weeks. After cast was removed I still had problems with my hand so was refered for various tests, which one test showed the unlnar nerve was compressed hence the reason I could not feel two of my fingers.
I had cubital tunnel decompression surgery in April 2007 and have been left with a 10 inch scar to the back of my elbow , which does not look very nice.
My question is “how long does it take for my elbow and wrist to return to normal”? I still have odd numb sensations/brusing and also a burning, aching feeling in hand.
Any info would be most appreciated.

admin answers:
The unlnar nerve is one of a few in the arm comes from your brachial plexus in your shoulder. I myself had abn injury to my brachial plexus i also know other who have compressed a nerve. Realy gona sound nasty here but stop bothering about a tiny little bit of burning with odd numb sensations you could have lost the use of your arm.
As for how long it will take to heal mother nature repairs nerves at 1 mm per day
from damaged area down to finger tips. However if the nerve is scared there is a posabilaty that it will never ever be the same agine
i am 1 year down and still expect another 2 or 3 years.i am asuming that its only pain your sufering and that you are lucky enofe to have all your movements

Cubital Tunnel Syndrome Surgery?
I am due to have cubital tunnel syndrome surgery this week and I had a question about the incision. I have heard that there will be a long incision but then I have heard that there will only be about a one inch cut. What am I to expect on the incision? And if anyone has had this type of surgery and would like to share your information on your experiance, that would be great!
